Bringing your own phone means you activate your Combo Wireless line on a phone you already own. It's a great fit if your phone is in good shape, and it opens up our three combos that don't include a phone.

Is my phone compatible?
Your phone needs to meet these requirements:
- Unlocked. Not locked to another carrier.
- Works on the T-Mobile network. Supports the network's LTE or 5G bands and HD Voice (VoLTE) calling. Older 3G-only phones no longer work.
- Not reported lost or stolen and not blocked for unpaid balances.
- In working condition, with a working screen and battery.
How to check your phone
Find your IMEI
Your IMEI is your phone's unique ID. Dial *#06# on almost any phone to display it, or look in Settings › General › About (iPhone) or Settings › About phone (Android). Enter it on your application so we can confirm compatibility.
Check if it's unlocked

If your phone is locked, your current carrier may unlock it once it's paid off, under their unlocking policy.
SIM or eSIM
Once approved, you'll activate your line with a Combo Wireless SIM card or eSIM, depending on your phone. Phones like the U.S. iPhone 14 and newer are eSIM-only. Activation steps are on our support page.
Keeping your number
You can transfer your current number to your Combo Wireless line. Keep your old service active until the transfer completes, and have your account number and transfer PIN ready. Read how to keep your number.

What if my phone isn't compatible?
Choose a combo that includes a phone, such as the phone and tablet combo. If you're switching carriers, see free phone when you switch.
Can I bring my own phone and still get a free phone?
Our BYOP combos include two non-phone devices instead. If you'd like a new phone, choose one of the six combos with a phone.
Does BYOP cost anything?
The devices in BYOP combos are free for eligible customers who enroll. Your service details are provided before you enroll.
