The Free Government Tablet and Laptop Combo is built for people who don't need a new phone. You bring a compatible phone for your Combo Wireless service line, and we provide two free refurbished devices: a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 and your choice of Chromebook 11, Dell Latitude or MacBook Pro.
How this combo works without a phone
Every combo is tied to one Combo Wireless service line with unlimited talk & text and a qualifying data allowance. Here, that line runs on a phone you already own:
- Check your phone's compatibility. Your phone needs to be unlocked and work on the T-Mobile network. Our bring your own phone page explains how to check.
- Get a SIM or eSIM. Once approved, you activate your line on your own phone with a SIM card or eSIM.
- Connect the tablet and laptop. Both use Wi-Fi, or your phone's hotspot when you're out. Hotspot use draws from your plan's data allowance.
Important: if your current phone isn't compatible, choose a combo that includes a phone, such as the phone and laptop combo or the iPhone and laptop combo.

Your household must qualify for Lifeline through SNAP/EBT, Medicaid, SSI, Federal Public Housing Assistance, the Veterans Pension, or household income. If someone in your household already gets Lifeline through another company, you can transfer your benefit to Combo Wireless rather than applying for a second one.
